Welcome to the Recipe Legacy Project!

Greetings! Welcome to the Recipe Legacy Project! The purpose of this blog is to reunite recipes to their owners, for genealogical purposes, to memorialize the person who loved the recipe and to rediscover some great old dishes.

I am a huge fan of old, vintage cookbooks, usually published by some sort of community organization, such as a church, social club, school or charity. They're usually spiral bound and have recipes with credit to the submitter. Over time, these individuals leave this world and the cookbooks sit unused on shelves or in boxes in the basement. I feel as though these people wished to share their recipes with the world, so I want to help in their quest.

The goal of this project is to select a recipe out of one of the many cookbooks I have collected, research the name and if they have passed on, post their recipes on FindaGrave.com where anyone who looks up their memorial will also have a nice recipe to make or save in their research. If you've never checked out that website, it is a GEM of genealogical research and a wonderful way to see graves of individuals you may not necessarily be able to make the trek to see. I've found many loved ones this way and photographed countless graves for requestors there.

In the meantime, I plan on blogging my journey of actually making the recipes I post so that I can feel a connection to someone I have never met and keep their memory alive. We are doing Coco's work here, my friends! (Such a great Disney film...highly recommend!)

Eventually, I might get fancy and start TikToking my project, but I need to build my confidence first. I'm somewhat shy and have trouble taking criticism very well. I want to get better, but I am 40 and probably set in my ways!

I don't ever intend on posting a recipe for someone who is still rocking and rolling, only those who have left us.

Thank you for joining me on this journey and let's learn about some wonderful people and recipes! :)
